How Smites New Goddess Jing Wei Is Going To Dominate The Battleground Of The Gods

"She's got phoenix's around her, maybe she's a new player on Team Phoenix?"

Smite Data miners have discovered the next goddess in the game will be Jing Wei.

LORE:

Jingwei (simplified Chinese: 精卫; traditional Chinese: 精衛; Wade–Giles: Ching-wei) is a bird in Chinese mythology, transformed from the daughter of Yandi named Nüwa (different from the goddess Nüwa who created mankind and repaired the heavens). After she drowned when playing in the Eastern Sea, she metamorphosed into a bird called Jingwei. Jingwei is determined to fill up the sea, so she continuously carries a pebble or twig in her mouth and drops it into the Eastern Sea.

Jingwei has a dialogue with the sea where the sea scoffs her, saying that she won't be able to fill it up even in a million years, whereupon she retorts that she will spend ten million years, even one hundred million years, whatever it takes to fill up the sea so that others would not have to perish as she did. From this myth comes the Chinese chengyu idiom "Jingwei Tries to Fill the Sea" (精卫填海), meaning dogged determination and perseverance in the face of seemingly impossible odds.

The story is recorded in the Shanhaijing:

“Three thousand ninety li farther southeast, then northeast, stands Departing-Doves Mountain. On its heights are many mulberry trees. There is a bird dwelling here whose form resembles a crow with a patterned head, white beak, and red feet. It is called Jingwei and makes a sound like its name. She is the younger daughter of the Flame Thearch named Nüwa. Nüwa was swimming in the Eastern Sea when she was unable to return to shore and drowned. She then transformed into the bird Spirit-Guardian and regularly carries twigs and stones from the Western Mountains to fill up the Eastern Sea. The Zhang River emanates from here and flows eastward into the Yellow River.”

WHY JING WEI IS GONNA DOMINATE:

Now I know what you guys are thinking, I understood about 1.738% of that. So here is a popular Smite player Incon testing out Jing Wei:

Now if you still don't understand why Jing Wei is gonna be OP...

SHE HAS NOT ONLY A DAMAGING BANISH, BUT ALSO A AOE CRIT ATTACK THAT GOLDEN BOW PROCS ON!!!!!!

Ok, so the damaging banish is okay, but look at Freya. Freya's banish does not damage, so Jing Wei has a much better banish and the ability is much more useful for team fights and/or chases. BUT THE AOE CRIT IS GOING TO BE RIDICOULOUS

Why you might ask?

At 5:10 in the video above: Jing Wei's basic is 164, and her crit is 387 with Deathbringer. So that's 387 damage to a small area. But add Golden Bow to the equation and you also deal have of 387. So now it's 387+194=581 damage to that area.... BUT I'M NOT EVEN DONE. CAUSE THEN YOU HAVE MALICE. Malice's passive is- When you deal a Critical Strike, you deal an additional +75% of your total Physical Power as Physical Damage over the next 3s. Additional crits refresh this effect. Not counting Wei's base Physical Damage, that's an extra 124 Damage. That is 705 damage if you hit an enemy once.

BUT NOW YOU CAN HIT AN ENTIRE TEAM! IF AN ARES ULTED AND YOU GET THREE BASIC ATTACKS ON SOMEONE YOU ARE DEALING 2115 DAMAGE TO FIVE GODS. SO IN THE SPAN OF 3 SECONDS YOU'VE DEALT 10575 DAMAGE!!!

Now if you still don't believe me, give it a couple weeks before your body explodes from Jing Wei's arrows or whatever she shoots. -VesuvianAsh
